Area visited while in Lithuania
Research in Kaunas
The area located in 2014 was overgrown with plants, therefore the area
could not be used for nesting in 2015. We visited another research area
located in 2014 in the town of Jurbarkas. Since the area in Kaunas was
unusable we decided to relocate to Jurbarkas.
Research Area 1
We turned the breeding area located in Jurbarkas in 2014 into research
area 1 and successfully captured both little terns and common terns. We
attached geolocator units and collected blood samples from captured little

Research Area 2
We surveyed research area 2 also found in Jurbarkas. We were able to
confirm nests and again successful in capturing little terns.
In research area 2, we attempted to capture a breeding pair which later
discovered one was wearing a geolocator attached in 2014. Ultimately we
were unable to retrieve last year's geolocator but managed to attack
another device as well as collect a blood sample.

Research Area 3
We surveyed the neighbouring colony which we discovered in 2014
(Research Area 3). Little terns were nesting here as well as we began
capturing, attaching geolocators, and collecting blood samples.
Research Area 4
The use of boat allowed us to discoer a new colony on the Nemunas River.
This area was surveyed in 2014 and was nested by a breeding pair of little
terns. We managed to attach geolocators in the area aoso, as well as
collect blood samples.
